What happened to no drawing in baseball? Oh yeah it’s the spring. Boring boring spring.
Some big names crept into the Dodgers starting lineup today, against San Diego when they drew 3-3 after 9, with most of them getting a hit. Ramirez, Gordon, Ethier and Federowicz all with one hit each including an RBI to Dee.
Beckett took to the mound and came out dealing with 2IP, 1H, 3K and 0BB. He whiffed 3 out of 4 batters at one stage and his curve was just nasty. Maholm took over after 2 innings and came and threw perfectly with no strikeouts but only one hit and facing the minimal number and left the game up 1-0.
The Dodgers scored the first run in the second when Guerrero reached through a walk, got to third on a single from Joc Pederson and then scored through a smash from Puig into left field and Alex showed off his pace sprinting home with the first and a Puig RBI.
Guerrero reached base again in the fifth with a single into center and moved to third after another base hit from Turner. Puig picked him up again with another Sac Fly, good guy Puig.
Maholm left in the 5th being replaced by Fife who went 2 innings and gave up the only run until the 8th. He only walked one and gave up one hit but still that was enough to cut the lead in half.
Demel pitched an inning after that and kept the score steady. Moskos came in the 8th and gave up a run on 2 hits and a walk to level the score at 3 after the Dodgers scored on a Dee Gordon triple into the right corner scoring Chone Figgins.
Things stayed quiet after that as the game ended tied at 3 when Smith and Ni both shared the 9th inning.
LA scored their three runs on 10 hits but failed to ever get a rally going when they just couldn’t string the hits together at any one time. Gordon, Ethier, Ramirez, Harris, Fed-Ex, Guerrero, Sweeny and Turner all got one and Figgins, DHing, got 2.
Clint Robinson failed to get a hit but is still batting .545, Ethier is at .375 in ST, Sweeny is 2-4 and .500 and Turner is batting .400.
The Dodger defense needs cleaning up with 2 errors at separate times that were lucky not to score any runs and caused no damage.
There is still no update on Ross Stripling, a prospect for the Dodgers as a starting pitcher who was injured on Wednesday throwing in the game against Arizona, it doesn’t look serious but has sidelined him from throwing for a couple of days.
