Dodgers Complete 3 Game Sweep of Arizona

The Los Angeles Dodgers took to chase field on Sunday for their 3rd game of the 3 game set with a 2-0 buffer on the NL West rival.

Coming into the game Arizona were the first team in the MLB to lose 10 games as they had a 4-10 record as opposed to LA’s 9-4 and first in the West.

In the series that showcased and impressive 35 runs for the 2 teams it was LA who made the most of them and scored 22 of the heap.

After Hyun Jin Ryu shut out the D-Backs 6-0, with the help of his pitching mates in the bullpen, Zack Greinke took to the mound on Saturday with an impressive 5.1IP for just 1ER. Both starting pitchers had the wins so far.

Sunday saw Dan Haren go up against Cahill and, already having an 0-3 start to the year, the Arizona pitcher’s season got a whole lot worse giving up 6ER in just 4IP.

Some more good news was Alex Guerrero who, coming off the DL with a strained oblique, hit a 3 run home run, a single and a double in AAA Albuquerque’s 8-3 loss on Sunday. Alex drove in all 3 of the runs that the team scored and looked in fine form in his first game back, not making an error at second base.

After the sweep of the rivals the Dodgers are now a top of the West, one game up on the Giants. LA travel to San Francisco for their 3 game set starting Tuesday at 7:15PM.

Adrian Gonzalez has an 8 game extra base hit streak with a double and a HR in yesterday’s game and also a 9 game hitting streak. He also drove in 10 runs total for the series and has 59RBIs in 59 games at Chase Field.

Dee Gordon stole a career high 4 bases in the win and the team drew 6 walks and Yasiel Puig added another stolen base to Dee’s to make it 5. Dee stole on base with out a pitch being thrown when reliever Randall Delgado kicked at the rubber and was looking down.

Other home runs in the 3rd game came from Matt Kemp and Juan Uribe but it was matched by one from Eric Chavez, a solo shot, and a 3 run HR  by Mark Trumbo off Jamey Wright who left a breaking ball up a little too high.

Kenley Jansen threw superbly for the save, his fourth for the year as he hit a season high 100MPH on the stadium’s speed gun. He struck out 2 in his one inning of work.

Ryu (2-1), Greinke (3-0) and Haren (2-0) all started and got wins in the series to help their records for the year.

Tuesday’s game against SF sees Beckett (0-0 9.00ERA) going up against Tim Lincecum (0-1 9.90ERA). The Dodgers are already 1-2 against the Giants after the series at Dodger Stadium earlier in the year.
