Adrian Gonzalez managed a hit in all of the 3 games in this road set as he extended his hitting streak out to 12 games in a row with 14RBI’s in that 12.
Hyun Jin Ryu threw 7 innings of scoreless ball in the final game and earned him self the only Dodger win at AT&T Park for LA this year.
This was too little too late for the Dodgers however as games one and two were dropped by Brandon League and JP Howell respectively.
In game one, League came on in the 12th and gave up the sole run that would cost the Dodgers the game after Beckett went 5 scoreless innings in his no decision.
The runs for LA came mostly off Juan Uribe’s bat, who went 3-5 with an RBI, 2 runs and a solo home run in the second inning.
The Dodgers didn’t use Brian Wilson in this game or the next as he was brought off the DL and into the team but didn’t get a pitch. Mattingly just said, “The time wasn’t right for him in these games.”
It was Matt Kemp who was the odd one out in game one followed by Puig in game 2 and Crawford in game 3.
The second of 3 consecutive shut outs for San Francisco went the same way as game one, a one run loss for LA. After Maholm lasted 6 and gave up one run, JP came on in the 7th and conceded one run in 0.2IP.
The Dodgers managed to even things up in the 6th inning, before the run was conceded, when, with 2 outs, Vogelsong walked Maholm and Dee Gordon smacked an RBI triple down to right-centre field for the Dodgers’ one and only run in the game.
League was used again in this game for the 8th inning but didn’t cause any damage, only one hit to Michael Morse that was erased through a 4-6-3 double play.
The “6” part of that play was Justin Turner who was brought into Hanley Ramirez’ spot after the regular short stop got hit in the left hand by a pitch. The X-Rays came back negative with no break but he sat the next game and never came off the bench.
Game 3 was the sweetest one for LA, winning 2-1 and using the perfect pitching set up. Starter Hyun Jin Ryu went for 7 innings, set up man Brian Wilson for one and closer Kenley Jansen for one.
Hyun Jin Ryu went 7IP, 4H, 0ER, 1BB and 3K’s in his pitching gem. Wilson followed up with a one hit, one walk 8th and got out of the jam with a K and a fly out. Jansen then came in looking for his 5th save of the year, he got it but also conceded a run and put his ERA up to a very high 5.00 for the year.
Kenley sits 25th in the MLB for saves so far but his high ERA isn’t of a worry just yet as he had the same sort of problem early in the year and then hit his straps 20 odd games in.
LA and SF are now equal top of the NL West with 10-6 records but sit well clear of Colorado who are 8-9 and 2.5 games back.
The boys in blue are now coming home to Dodger Stadium for a 3 game set against Arizona and are already 5-0 on the year against the foe.
