Extras. What’s The Dodgers Deal?

After going down in extra innings again yesterday, to the San Francisco Giants, 7-4, the whole of Dodgerfam is thinking, “why always us?” And the problem is it is a number of reasons.

The main one in my opinion is the out of After going down in extra innings again yesterday, to the San Francisco Giants, 7-4, the whole of Dodgerfam is thinking, “why always us?” And the problem is it is a number of reasons.

The main one in my opinion is the out of catcher AJ Ellis. It’s no surprise that he can manage his staff much better than the inexperienced Butera or Olivo and can even bat a little too. This does bring up another concern however with either Butera or Olivo having to be on the waivers and risk another club taking them from our hands.

We have too many average catchers and not one stand out.

The next reason for this extra inning shambles it would seem is the offence. It seems like a pattern, the starting pitchers go out and throw 6 or 7 solid innings of one or two run ball and simply put go out with a loss because the Dodger bats never wake up. LA just seem like they are content to match the other team’s runs and never take the commanding lead on the game. The thing the offence needs to remember is that it is a team sport and it’s not all up to you to hit long bombs every at bat. Moving players around works just as well for the team. I know it’s hard when you’re getting paid around 15 million dollars not to just hit homers but something needs to get in the heads of these rich kids.

The last thing that stuffs us up in the late and extra innings. Errors. The main problem in defence is the shortstop Hanley Ramirez. This doesn’t mean he can’t swing a bat though… Boy can he swing a bat. But his defence really let’s his game down. The shortstop should be the captain out there and can make the good plays in the spot where most right handers hit the ball. It’s a lack of communication on the pop just though, the outfielders don’t talk to one another and to Hanley and the ball just drops right in the middle of all 3 of the triangle of players going for, what should be, a routine pop up.

No one can pick out just one of these to blame the losses on as is it definitely a mixture but these can all be fixed for sure. Defence is easy to fix, just get the players to talk and have some good communication skills. But then again maybe Donnie isn’t the best to model that off after getting thrown out a couple days ago. Let’s just hope everyone hits their strides in the next series against the Marlins and we can blow them out of Dodger Stadium.
