Uribe, Withrow Traded to Atlanta

The news broke of a trade between the two clubs early this week with rumors of Juan Uribe being shipped off to Atlanta in exchange for another infielder Alberto Callaspo coming to the Dodgers in a straight one for one swap.

This deal didn’t go through however as Callaspo vetoed the deal, causing more negotiations to be had. The Dodgers seemed determined to get rid of Juan as now, with Justin Turner really finding his step and coming up with hit after hit, the every day third baseman role seems to be his. This would mean that LA are paying 6.5 million dollars this year for a backup 36 year old third baseman, something that is absurd to anyone, except well Atlanta as now they have the salary and need to their backup.

Alex Guerrero, Juan Uribe or Justin Turner, Who Should be Starting?

Alex Guerrero has been dubbed by some as, “the hottest hitter in baseball right now”, or the everyday third baseman for LA. This is all rubbish.

There is no way in the world that this 28 year old rookie out of Cuba should be starting over the likes of Juan Uribe, when he’s healthy, or even Justin Turner, a man who had every shit at the role coming into the back end of last year’s season.

Yes Guerrero has been good and he probably should be getting more time than he is under Don Mattingly but he should not be starting.

Why is Justin Turner not Starting Everyday?

After the leadoff man for Tuesday’s game started with a home run and then, in the 8th inning hit another bomb over the left field wall, the question has to be what more does he have to do to get a start? And the simple answer is, well, become a catcher.

There isn’t a way for him to pierce his way through the ranks in the infield with the likes of Dee Gordon taking up second base, Hanley Ramirez at short, followed by great defensive gloves in Arruebarrena and Rojas and of course Juan Uribe at third, all of whom can hit the ball very well and play some marvellous defence. Well all of them except Hanley for the defence bit.

So for now it looks like the utility infielder will just need to sit tight on the bench until he is called on to his the game winning pinch hit home run or start a game due to someone needing a day off.

My Opening Day Down Under Starting Line Up

*THIS WAS MY ARTICLE I WROTE A LONG TIME AGO*

Dodgers baseball is only 25 days away and the SCG (Sydney Cricket Ground) is getting ready to host out boys in blue. The hype is only building as Sportsnet LA is being releases tomorrow and I’m sure Donnie Baseball is looking at all the lads at spring training to pick his optimal line up to win the first two games and go 2-0 and top of the league, hint hint Ned, Don, Clayton and Zack Greinke…

That being said this would be my starting line up for games one and two in Sydney with last year’s stats.Image

Dodgers Lose Second Straight Series to San Fran

Adrian Gonzalez managed a hit in all of the 3 games in this road set as he extended his hitting streak out to 12 games in a row with 14RBI’s in that 12.

Hyun Jin Ryu threw 7 innings of scoreless ball in the final game and earned him self the only Dodger win at AT&T Park for LA this year.

This was too little too late for the Dodgers however as games one and two were dropped by Brandon League and JP Howell respectively.

In game one, League came on in the 12th and gave up the sole run that would cost the Dodgers the game after Beckett went 5 scoreless innings in his no decision.

Ryu Gets Hit 8 Times in Opening Day Loss

The hype was set for the LA home opener and I was up and ready to watch the game at 7am my time on the first day of holidays.

Safe to say I was pumped.

By the time I was fully awake I came to my senses and realised the score, it was 3-0 Giants.

Twitter and I wouldn’t have been so mad if this weren’t San Francisco but it made it so much worse.

Ryu lost his 0.00 ERA on a Morse single to Centre Fielder Matt Kemp.

Matt was in the line up because Yasiel Puig arrived to the ball park late, this has happened before if I remember correctly… Continue reading

Wilson Allows Dodgers’ First 2014 Loss

After a very successful trip down under the Dodgers made their US opening night match against the Padres one to forget.

The first inning went down easily for LA with Crawford and Puig both going down on K’s and Ramirez flied out to right. Crawford and Puig never looked comfortable up at the plate and only Ramirez got some good wood onto his line drive.

Hyun Jin Ryu (1-0, 0.00 ERA) was the pitcher for LA and the sophomore out of Korea got off to a shaky start. A 7 pitch walk and then a single gave the Padres a chanced with none out and men on first and second.  A strikeout would prove to be very important to get out of the inning after Hyun Jin walked Gyorko on four pitches with none looking like hitting the zone.
